May I rant for a sec?
I’ve seen lots of genderbend characters on my dash lately, and for some of them, I couldn’t help but twitch. To some, Genderbend just means changing their hairstyle and adjusting the size of their chest.
Unless it’s done by magic and temporary, there should be other factors to consider: Genetics, up-bringing, personality etc.
Imagine your character as they are now… Good? Now, how would they have been if they were raised the opposite gender?
Would they still maintain their personality? If they were gruff and cynical, would they still carry those characteristics? Were they meek and cautious? Would that be the same in this alternate universe? Why are their personalities as they are now? Bad childhood? Trauma? Because they’re a dick? Well, now if they were the opposite gender, how would society, their own values cause them to react?
Speaking of Personality, would being the opposite gender affect their sense of style? Would they be the type to wear makeup? Would they change the length of the hair? Are they the type to bother with styling in the first place? If they were feminine, is that enhanced with the switch, or were they just being contrary and now instead would dress more masculine?
Genetics is also something to look at. I’ve seen Big Burly Men become waify tiny girls. Is that a trait that runs in the family? if not, then try to incorperate their current traits into their opposite self! Square jaws, thick lips, Heavy builds…They were born with it! Flaunt it
Genderbending is more than bows and boobs and bobcuts. Who knows, perhaps it’ll help you develop your character further as well!
Thanks for listening.
